English 4 & English 4 HP: Write a one-paragraph review of your book group book.

English 2:

• Finish reading pages 73 – 80 of Night and writing at least 4 sticky notes for the section.
• Bring your SSR book tomorrow!

English 4 & English 4 HP: Finish the final draft of your journalistic article. Bring in the following:

1. Article FD
2. Article RD
3. Interview Questions & Notes
4.  Journalism Story Idea Worksheet

English 2: Read pages 64 – 70 of Night, then write a letter from Elie to his father or from Elie’s father to Elie. In your letter, refer to specific events from the assigned reading.

English 4 & English 4 HP: Finish reading Chunk #8 of your Book Group book.

English 2:

• Write at least four notes for pages 55 – 63 of Night. (Follow the instructions on the Night bookmark–download here & here.)
• Bring Night and your SSR book tomorrow.

English 4 & English 4 HP:

• Write a rough draft of your journalistic article. This should be at least one page long.
• Bring your RD, interview notes, and Journalism Story Idea Worksheet tomorrow.
• Not on track to finish Chunk #8 by Wednesday? Read in Ms. Hale’s room at lunch on Tuesday.

English 2: No homework this weekend. Catch up on any missing notetaking!

English 4 & English 4 HP: Conduct your interviews (at least 3) for your newspaper article. Bring in your interview notes and your completed Journalism Story Idea Worksheet on Monday.

English 2: Bring SSR book tomorrow! (Also bring Night, of course!)

English 4 & English 4 HP: Complete the Homework section of the Journalism Story Idea Worksheet.

Last Night’s Homework (2/19/08)

English 2: Finish sticky notes for pages 32 – 37 of Night.

English 4 & English 4 HP: Finish reading Chunk #6 of your Book Group book.

Over the long weekend, make sure to stay (or get!) caught up with your schoolwork.

English 2: Write sticky notes for each page of Night from 24 – 31 (8 notes total). Follow the instructions on your Night bookmark (links below). Make sure to have your book in class on Tuesday for a notes check.

English 4: Finish writing the Chemistry Lab Fire article following the  instructions here. Minimum 5 paragraphs–refer to Asimov’s Dirty Dozen for tips.

English 4 HP: Write an analysis of this article from the San Francisco Chronicle. Include the following:

• Describe the two sides of the issue and the sources that the writers used for each
• Explain what happened. (Remember, this article is about lots of things that happened!)
• Write your response and opinions about the article. How does it show or avoid showing bias?
• Write your response and opinions about the issue. Do you support the Berkeley city council’s decision? Why or why not?
