Oh, rats. Sorry to post this so late, guys!

English 2: Work on Night essay–final draft due Thursday!

English 4: Write at least 1/2 pages about ambition. What are your ambitions? How do your ambitions motivate you?

English 4 HP: Create a chart in which you list at least three quotes about or by Macbeth and at least 2 quotes about or by Lady Macbeth, then explain what those quotes say or suggest about the characters.

English 2: Complete all five paragraphs of the rough draft of your Night essay. (You just need to write your intro and conclusion, then staple them to to the three body paragraphs that you already wrote!)

English 4 & English 4 HP: Take it easy. Good luck to those checking for UC acceptances!

English 2: Write paragraph #2 of your Night essay, following the same format as yesterday. Bring BOTH paragraphs to class tomorrow–if you don’t have them, you will be required to serve a 15-minute lunch worktime detention.

English 4 & English 4 HP: Finish writing your skits if you wish; no other homework.

  • Concrete Detail #1
  • Commentary #1
  • Set-up #2
  • CD #2
  • Commentary #2

English 2: Meet in the Computer Lab (Room 202) tomorrow! Do not come to our classroom.

English 4 & English 4 HP: No homework.

3/10/08 Homework

English 2: Write a four-sentence outline of your Night essay:

  • Sentence 1: Thesis Statement (A complete answer to the topic question.)
  • Sentence 2: “Body Paragraph 1 will be about ____ (a scene from Night.) It will use quotes from pages ___ & ___.”
  • Sentence 3 & Sentence 4: Repeat Sentence 2 for Body Paragraphs 2 & 3.

English 4 & English 4 HP: Write a two-sentence summary for the Shakespeare sonnet that you read in class today.

If you weren’t here, read Sonnet 18, 30, or 73, then write a line-by-line translation, then write a two-sentence summary.

English 2: Read pages 96 – top of 101 in Night and write 3 sticky notes following the bookmark instructions. You may write 2 extra notes for this section for extra credit.

English 4 & English 4 HP: Work on your book group book essay. It’s due on Friday.

Note: Do not use “for example” or “for instance”! Instead, set up your quotes with specific background information that will help the reader understand what’s going on!
